Finger Labyrinth with Scripture Prayer Activity
What for?
This prayer may help you focus on a particular bible verse, and may help you think about what importance this verse may have in your life at the current moment.
What will you need?
- Print off one of the following documents Finger Labyrinth 1 Finger Labyrinth 2 Finger Labyrinth 3
- Bible
- Pen or pencil
- Crayons (optional)
How do you do it?
- After you gather your materials, begin this prayer activity by pausing to thank God for the time you have set aside to pray a scripture. Also, ask God to help you have a clear mind throughout the activity. Finally, ask God to lead you to an appropriate bible verse for this activity.
- Choose a scripture that has meaning for you, or pick a Psalm that you would like to know more about. One to four verses is enough for this activity.
- Start at the outside opening of the labyrinth, and rewrite the scripture you have chosen. Word by word. As you write, you will get closer to the center of the labyrinth. If you have a short verse, keep rewriting the verse over and over until you reach the very center.
- Color the labyrinth. Starting either at the outside opening, or at the core of the center.
- As you write and/or color, think about the following questions: Why do you think the original author wrote this prayer? What words stand out to me the most? What do the words mean? What feelings did the original writer have at the time? Do I have similar feelings as the writer? What does this scripture mean for me today? Who in my life might also benefit from this scripture?
- After you wrote the scripture and/or colored in the labyrinth, follow the directions for the Finger Labyrinth.
